Pro Windows Small Business Server 2003, Tony Campbell

Take your small business into the next century
Tony Campbell is a ‘techie’. He is also a writer who can make technical themes understandable to the layman. (Worryingly, he also writes fiction, but I’m sure he has stuck rigidly to the facts in this latest work.)
Pro Windows SBS 2003 is aimed at business owners and managers who have an understanding of technology as well as the technical specialists who have to keep the show on the road. But fortunately you do not have to be an expert technician to understand what Tony is on about. I am far from technically competent but, after reading this book, I reckon I could make a reasonable fist of installing SBS 2003.
A daunting twelve chapters and well over 400 pages make this a book not to be taken up lightly. That said; if yours is a typical small business struggling to run a network of even three or four PCs, this book (plus the software!) could certainly make a big difference.
Over half the book is essentially a course in small business computing, complete with case studies to illustrate the ‘lessons’. Three chapters cover the components of the software and the final two chapters are devoted to security and troubleshooting topics.
In his acknowledgements Tony Campbell talks of long hours hunched over his PC. Those hours were well spent and I am sure many small business owners and IT technicians will come to thank him.
